Valentines Mansion is a Grade II* Listed former country house situated in a public park. The house is of late 17th century date and refaced in the late 18th century. A curved Porte Cochere was added in 1811. Internally, there is a staircase with twisted balusters, various late seventeenth century panelled rooms with eighteenth and nineteenth century chimney pieces with grates. During our association with the Mansion we prepared an architectural report, a feasibility study, a conservation plan and executed an external repairs contract (part funded by English Heritage), which included the restoration of the roof of the Porte Cochere. A scheme for new uses, including education rooms, wedding registry and community offices received a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £2 million and secured the future of this important building.
