Aya gained a MEng in architecture at Tokyo Metropolitan University in Japan, before pursuing her interest in the re-use of old buildings to the UK, completing the MSc in Architectural Materials Conservation at Bournemouth University. She joined RGA in 2008 after working for Andrew Townsend Architects in Oxfordshire on varied conservation projects.

Aya has extensive conservation experience and a varied portfolio of new build additions to old buildings, including the HLF refurbishment of Clissold House in Hackney, repairs to the Grade I Listed Hawksmoor St Alfege Church in Greenwich, and the HLF major refurbishment and extension of Toynbee Hall in East London.
