Toynbee Hall, Whitechapel

Toynbee Hall, the remarkable pioneering social and educational establishment set up by Canon Barnett in the 1880’s, has been restored and converted to use as a conference centre, offices and accommodation for residential volunteers.

A new extension is separated from the original building by a glazed corridor that links all parts in an accessible manner.

The project is the realisation of a marvellous opportunity to provide a sustainable future for Toynbee Hall, as well as an enhanced public realm through the regeneration of Mallon Gardens.
