London Docks

The Pennington Street Warehouse is the only surviving part of the London Docks designed by Daniel Alexander in 1805.

The warehouse is of a sublime grandeur, having an imperforate brick boundary wall to Pennington Street with brick groin-vaulted cellars to the full 1000 feet length of the building.

We have obtained consent for the creation of five public entrances through the buildings to the new public roadway to the south, allowing light, air, services and entrances to a range of restaurant, office and leisure uses, as part of St George’s redevelopment of Fortress Wapping as a mixed commercial and residential area.

This will transform the area from a closed and hostile environment to a permeable, welcoming and vibrant part of the
