Custom House, London

The City of London planning committee has unanimously approved the scheme to carefully transform London’s historic Custom House into a hotel, returning the building to public life, creating significant new public space and interiors where the City meets the River.

RGA is supporting lead Architect Orms, serving as Conservation Architects to guide the approach to the historic fabric, and enabling both the restoration and sensitive intervention in one of the greatest Georgian buildings in London.

The collaborative approach with the City and statutory authorities has meant that the scheme has received unanimous support from the Georgian Group, SAVE, as well as Historic England. We are looking forward to realising this project in the years ahead, restoring it to its former glory and opening up a significant public space towards the river, as well as public access through the building itself.
